Book wise, I think Da Vinci Code had a better story, while A&D was more interesting on the “research” side of things. Movie wise, the Da Vinci Code was such crap. There was no suspense and Tom Hanks and Audrey Tantou had sub-zero chemistry. There is a touch of suspense in A&D, and [...] I liked it, it makes you think, great performance, blah blah. However. . . I had this nagging feeling that the Japan part was really loosely connected to the other three stories and was mostly fan-service to Japanophiles and/or people with a fetish for horny and deaf Japanese school girls. I feel bad saying that because Rinko Kikuchi’s [...] Pretty colors + battle scenes with epic, rock driven music + comic book roots + 300 half-naked super buff men = Thumbs up in my book This movie tries to have several intertwining stories, but really only has one story with a lot of underdeveloped secondary characters with unresolved story lines. If you like those kind of movies, complete with a guy who screws up his great life because of his fears of any kind of real commitment and responsibilities, then [...] I can’t deny that this is a good movie; it’s very beautifully shot, good special effects for a more “independent” movie, good acting and a very engrossing story. However, I have to say the trailers and reviews were quite misleading. It was billed as an “Alice and Wonderland for adult,” the trailers were full of shots [...] I really had no intention of renting Superman Returns, but my local Blockbuster was out of Devil Wears Prada, so then I walked to the other side of the store, only to discover Talledega Nights was gone too. Superman was right next to Talledega, so I said, “Alright, let’s see what Bryan Singer ditched X-Men [...] |
