I recently saw one of my teachers using a funky/cute little camera that spit out little credit-card sized instant photos. My curiosity was piqued so I scoured the web to figure what this camera was. It was a Fujifilm Cheki 25 from their “Instax” series. A trip to Bic-Camera and a few thousand yen later, [...] I found this fun tutorial about tilt-shift photography and thought I’d try it out. What is “tilt-shift photography”, you ask? Basically it makes everyday photos look like miniature scenes. I figured among the hundreds of Japan photo’s I’ve taken, some would make decent “Tilt-shift” photos. Here are some of my more successful attempts. He usually jumps away quickly, but the other day he let me [...] If anyone were asked to name “Japanese things” the first thing they would say would be “cherry blossoms.” Okay, maybe the first thing they would say would be “sushi”, then “Mt. Fuji”, then “anime and manga”, “Nintendo”, “karate”, “kamikaze”, “sake”, “kimono”. . . Still, cherry blossoms are easily in the Top Ten things you think [...] I got a little tired of Zooomr (too hard to edit photos post-upload) so I’ve gone back to Flickr. And now I’m in the midst of uploading my Okinawan pictures. I went with two friends at the end of March. Every day here in Japan it seems something funny happens involving me and running into a new cultural barrier. And I want to write about it as soon as I get home, but I never do.
